Bi+ Inclusion Scan

For whom?

  • For lgbtqia+ organizations
  • For other organizations already engaged in bi+, lgbtqia+, emancipation and/or diversity.
  • For other organizations that want to start focusing on bi+, lgbtqia+, emancipation and/or diversity.
With this scan, you can assess how bi+ inclusive your organisation is.

What do you need to do?

To work on increasing bi+ inclusion in your organisation:

Complete the Bi+ Inclusion Scan

Filling out the Bi+ Inclusion Scan will provide an initial insight into how your organisation is performing with regard to bi+ inclusion. The scan consists of 25 questions. Take your time to answer them carefully in order to obtain a reliable score. You can complete the scan individually or with multiple people at once (once per organisation). At the end of the scan, a score will be provided, along with elaborations.

Note: Bi+ Nederland handles all data confidentially and will not share it without anonymisation. For more information, you can refer to our privacy statement.

Read the 5 point plan

The 5 point plan provides all the basic information needed to become more bi+ inclusive. The following five points are covered:

  1. Awareness and knowledge
  2. Language
  3. Norm setting and culture
  4. Representation and visibility
  5. Services and products

Fill out the Checklist

At the end of the 5 point plan, there is a checklist. Complete this checklist based on the Bi+ Inclusion Scan score and the information from the 5 point plan.

What’s next?

The 5 point plan concludes with concrete advice on how your organisation can prioritise and develop a (short-term) bi+ inclusion plan that can be implemented.

What is bi+ inclusion and why is it needed?

More and more organisations are committing to diversity and inclusion in various areas, both internally and externally. In a diverse and inclusive organisation, employees can be openly and comfortably themselves, and products and services are available to everyone.
Despite many organisations making progress toward inclusion, the inclusion of bi+ people often lags behind. Overall lgbtqia+ (lesbian, gay, bi+, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual) inclusion or attention to sexual and gender diversity generally falls short when it comes to bi+ inclusion. This has various consequences for bi+ employees. Compared to heterosexual, gay, and lesbian employees, bi+ employees are much less open about their sexual orientation at work, report more work-related mental health issues, and experience more unwanted behaviour from colleagues.
Organisations that truly commit to bi+ inclusion help reduce the monosexual norm and bi+ phobia, promoting visibility, recognition, and space for bi+ people.
