“Like having no boundaries”

The role of sexism, heteronormativity and the monosexual norm in sexual violence against bi+ women.

Bi+ women experience disproportionate levels of sexual violence and sexual harassment (SVSH). Little is known, however, about the causes of this high prevalence or about the nature of the violence. This study contributes to solving this knowledge gap.

The study explores the role that sexual orientation plays in the experiences of bi+ women with sexual violence and sexual harassment (SVSH). This central question is divided into the following sub-questions:

  • What types of SVSH do bi+ women experience?
  • In what (online and/or offline) contexts does this violence take place?
  • What distinctive factors and mechanisms play a role in the SVSH that bi+ women experience?
